Loved reading this. Thanks for sharing. So much here resonates with our harvesting year - often more apples than we know what to do with though. We never get round to pressing / making cider, yet there's always jars of apple rings!

Very happy to find you here on Substack. I’ve been missing you on Instagram. I’d love to hear more about the geese. Are they worth keeping? Pros and cons. Also more about the sheep. I’m trying to decide what to do with a paddock.

I've been looking forward to reading this since you popped back out of the blue on Instagram. As always you tell the stories so lovingly. My freezer is full, the pantry is filling up fast, we've had our fire on for the last few weeks now as it's been quite chilly up here, a couple more jobs to wrap up outside but I now yearn to hunker down for the rest of the year and rest. Look forward to the next one and I'll be trying the sausage rolls soon.

So lovely to read what you have been doing on your smallholding and all the different things you are making with your apples. Your sausage rolls sound delicious - will have to try making some. We love broad beans and have planted some for the past couple of years. I haven't heard of Wizard beans, will have to see if I can find anything equivalent to buy here for next year. This year is going so quickly, enjoy the last few days of October.

I've been looking forward to this Substack! I loved reading this first issue as I'm working towards eventually living on (and off of) my own land. I'm planning on getting a few milk goats soon and already have a garden that I expand every year by a little bit. I will definitvely try those sausage rolls although I might have to switch the Stilton for a blue cheese the Swiss market offers more readily. Have a good weekend , you four!

You make all that work sound so enjoyable even though it must be tiring especially with children too. I will be trying the sausage roll recipe
